Director Founder of Artists Union ConceptArt
Teo Jorbenadze was born in Tbilisi, Georgia, into the family of the renowned Georgian composer Tamaz Jorbenadze. She began studying music at the age of five but later turned her passion toward storytelling and film, becoming a screenwriter and music producer.
Teo holds a Master’s Degree in Audio-Visual Arts (Film and TV) from the Shota Rustaveli Theatre and Film State University of Georgia.
From 1995 to 1998, she worked as an author and cultural editor for the newspaper The Week’s Post.
Since 1996, she has been an author and editor at the Second Channel of Georgian Public Broadcasting, and also served as Head of the Literature Department and Head of PR at the Nodar Dumbadze State Central Children’s Theatre.
Between 1998 and 2011, she collaborated as a scriptwriter and producer with the German organization Melchiorsgrund, implementing major international theatre projects — including The Caucasian Chalk Circle, Cabaret, Gute Zeit, and A Midsummer Night’s Dream — in Germany, Poland, and Bosnia.
From 2000 to 2003, Teo was the author of Tell Me About You, a cycle of 40 TV films produced by Georgian Public Broadcasting and Studio Audience.
Since 2004, she has served as the Artistic Director of the Paata Burchuladze Charity Foundation “Iavnana”. Over 100 television marathons and gala concerts have been written and produced by her, both in Georgia and on world-renowned stages such as Gran Teatre del Liceu, Israeli Opera, Megaron – The Athens Concert Hall, Salle Pleyel (Paris), Strasbourg Concert Hall, and Elbphilharmonie (Hamburg). These events have featured legendary artists including Montserrat Caballé, Plácido Domingo, Ferruccio Furlanetto, Dolora Zajick, Renato Bruson, Giuseppe Giacomini, Dmitri Hvorostovsky, Evgeny Kissin, Michele Crider, Marcelo Álvarez, Ramón Vargas, and Ambrogio Maestri, among others.
Since 2012, she has been a Board Member of the Georgian Philharmonic Orchestra.
In 2014, she founded the Artists Union “ConceptArt.” Its debut project — the theatrical performance “Memory Card” (World Cinema’s Soundtracks) — became an unprecedented success in Georgia, achieving record ticket sales and remaining a bestseller to this day.
Her documentary film The Angels of Sorrow (2016–2018), dedicated to the world-famous Georgian composer Giya Kancheli, was screened at the International Film Festival (BIAFF) and the Tbilisi International Film Festival, and was officially selected for the Amsterdam Lift-Off Film Festival.
In 2017, Teo Jorbenadze received the “Best Producer” award at the Gold Wave ceremony, organized annually by Media Holding Fortuna.
In 2019, she founded the Classical Music Festival – The New Generation Music Festival.
During the pandemic (2020–2021), she created the innovative project “Music at Your Windows,” which brought live performances to audiences confined in their homes. The concerts, performed by leading artists, were staged on mobile platforms traveling through the city streets. She also organized the “Deep Forest”, “CA Goes To”, and the Giya Kancheli Tribute Festival in Batumi.
Her most recent major project, “City Lights – Follow Your Dreams”, was written and directed by her in collaboration with the internationally acclaimed violinist Lisa Batiashvili and composer-conductor Nikoloz Rachveli. The world premiere took place on May 14, 2023, at the Potsdam Theatre in Berlin.
