He was born in Sokhumi, from the very beginning he was interested in painting but as strange as it may sound he had chosen different direction in his career, Faculty of Economics in Tbilisi State University.

After graduating from the University he started working at the Tbilisi State University’s Centre for Culture and Art,where he was artistically tuned to TSU events. Since 1993, he was actively involved in designing stage designs for bands and young musicians. Also he provided that support for the university team “Man-San-Kan” which had tours in Sochi, Kiev, Jurmala and so on.

Many artists were interested in decorations and designs created by him. Since 1997 Vano Chelidze has been actively involved in the development of studios for TV projects. In 2003, TV program “Night Show with David Gogichaishvili” was created with his direct participation. In 2007, in partnership with American consultants he founded “Night Show Studio” with Irakli Kakabadze and David Gogichaishvili. From that time on, he started decorating for various programs: “Saturday show”, “Comedy Show” and more.

In 2003-2010 he had master classes in several American television companies: Warner Brothers, CBS, NBC where it was possible to exchange information and study the specific of making decorations for TV projects. Since 2007, TV show “Shua Kalakshi”(“In the Middle of the City”) was created within his participation and it still keeps to maintain high popularity.

There are about 50 studios created by his design for TV projects including: ”Night Show”, “Shua Kalakshi” (“In the Middle of the City”), ”A Girl from the Suburbs”, ”Nanuka’s Show”, ”Midday”, ”Geostar”, ”Dancing with the stars” and others. Vano Chelidze is also a stage painter for a number of well-known concerts, musical performances and conceptual expositions: ”Memory card-World Cinema’s masterpieces” with Nikoloz Rachveli, Jubilee evenings for Gia Kancheli, Anita Rachvelishvili, Nino Machaidze, Paata Burchuladze and Nani Bregvadze, copyright concert of French composer Vladimir Cosma, evening of Georgian National ballet “Sukhishvilebi”, auction of  charity fund “Iavnana”, projects of  Evgeni Mikeladze National Music School, exhibition dedicated to the 100th anniversary of Parnavaz Lapiashvili, exhibition of the costumes from Georgian cinema and theater, and many others. With his artistic concept and direct participation there are many large-scale projects implemented, Namely: ”Tbilisoba 2015”, New Year’s projects of 2018-2019, ”New Year’s Village” in the Dedaena square, events dedicated to the Independance Day of Georgia.
